A comprehensive and up-to-date field
guide to European birds of prey: eagles, hawks, falcons and their
kin. The book is written by an internationally-respected field
ornithologist and illustrated by one of the world's best bird
illustrators.
Each species is presented with beautiful and precise watercolour
illustrations and photographs. For each species the field
characteristics - plumage and flight pattern - of males, females
and juveniles are explained in detail. There is also information on
habitat, nesting and behaviour.
Useful plates, not seen in any other book on birds of prey,
compare different kinds of species and plumages which often cause
confusion. Also included are range maps, making field
identification faster and easier.
This is the essential field guide for bird watchers who want to
identify birds of prey.
While researching this book, the author and the illustrator
travelled to many of the best bird-spotting areas of Europe to
really catch the jizz of the birds of prey.
