ABOUT THE BOOK
This book is the ultimate guide to the Amarone wine as well as,
to a large extent, its sister brands Valpolicella/Ripasso/Recioto
della Valpolicella. It takes you on a tour of the Valpolicella
region between Verona and Lake Garda, introducing you to the
various districts and wine types of this unique area.

The Producers
Maps of the individual districts with an indication of
each producer
Learn the history of mythical Amarone, the very special
production methods and the local grape varieties used to make it.
We will also take a critical look at the cheap and anonymous
supermarket Amarones and the paradox of their role both as creators
and destructors of the wine's image.
Approximately half the book is devoted to a description of the
best and most important producers as well as a briefer discussion
of a number of other producers, ranging from the large cooperatives
to the small family businesses, and from the puritans rooted in
tradition to the visionary modernists. How do their wines taste?
What style of Amarone do they follow?
