In this sequel to the story about the
Saragossa circus family, the family has adjusted to life in Little
Town, although Elvis does at times miss life on the road. And then
there is the problem of his mother constantly losing her different
jobs. However, Elvis comes up with the perfect solution: His mother
should run for mayor! It can't be that different from running a
circus, since both jobs are essentially about being in charge and
making all the decisions.
But he soon comes to regret this idea as it accidentally
coincides with his grandmother being hospitalized and his uncle
Sonny becoming gradually more preoccupied with courtship. Elvis
seeks comfort from his loneliness by spending time with his pets, a
lion and a sea lion, and of course his friend Finn. But Finn also
has something which Elvis doesn't: a father. This makes Elvis
wonder what It would be like if he and his dad ever found each
other?
